The industry in which I work is a crazy one. Unstable, volatile, often cruel, yet so fulfilling…it attracts some of the best and worst people I’ve ever known. For every charitable, caring, compassionate, and nurturing soul full of integrity I’ve encounter, there’s been an egotistical, self-serving, and toxic bully who thinks he’s King Shit because he speaks into a microphone. I’m somewhere between the two of those, to be perfectly honest, but as I’ve gotten older I’ve strayed from the latter to the former (thank God). Radio seems to attract a unique (and some could say unfortunate) type of person who is simultaneously narcissistic yet insecure, and it brings out the best and worst in all of us. In this post, I want to spotlight a few of the incredible people who make my life and job so much easier and more rewarding while also lambasting a few of the morally-derelict infidels and scumbags I’ve had the great displeasure of knowing.
