Tears filled my eyes as I watched my baby boy from the second row of the theater at Academy of Holy Names in South Tampa. It was the opening night of “Chicago: A Teen Musical,” and my son was playing Amos Hart. If, like me, you are unfamiliar with the play or film, Amos is the sad sack husband of the female lead, Roxy, who shot and killed her lover. Uncharacteristically, Xander was tight-lipped about his role and its significance in the production. I was left to discover it on my own.
