Ebbs and flows. Yin and Yang. Sweet and Sour.
We are constantly reminded that the good times don’t last forever, the tough times don’t either, and we need to learn how to manage both. In my pedestrian opinion, finding inner calm in the turbulent sea of life is the key to mental health. My friend and former Program Director, Shark, used to remind me that “the good times are never as good as we think they are, and the bad times aren’t as bad.”
He’s right.
Sunday morning, Sarah and I set out to Orlando to visit my mom. She underwent an extensive procedure to help her conquer bladder cancer. We stopped by Uncle Nick’s in Lakeland to procure bagels a-plenty (they have the best bagels in Lakeland or Tampa) and some heat-and-eat eggplant parm & eggplant rollatini. We fought through that predictable-yet-daunting theme park traffic and arrived in South Conway, then sat for a spell and chatted with my mom and dad.
It was a lovely visit.
Mom seemed to be herself again,
