Those who have followed this Substack throughout my journey probably remember Brandon the Nurse. Just in case you don’t, and for the benefit of newcomers, please allow me to share with you how special this young man is. He was vital in my recovery. As much as Sarah was by my side at Moffitt, there were times when she had to work and couldn’t be there. During those moments, I got to know a magnificent young man named Brandon. He was a nurse, hence the nickname “Brandon the Nurse.”

He was there when I received chemotherapy. He made it a point to be present when my stem cells were transplanted back into my body. His constant positivity and support meant the world to me. We would talk about our mutual love for the Tampa Bay Lightning & their playoff runs. He kept me distracted when I needed to be and focused on the power of positive thinking.
