Let’s start with the medical stuff, as Tuesday is Appointment Day. I’m very fortunate that I “only” have to be at Moffitt one day a week for labs, appointments, and various procedures. Many post-transplant types like myself have multiple appointments a week, if not daily ones. However, I’m showing good progress other than my balky sodium and magnesium levels, so they only need to see me once a week. Tuesday is my day, and the ladies who schedule my appointments are gracious enough to avoid the early-mornings when they can so that we don’t get caught up in that infamous Tampa Traffic. That can turn a 30-minute drive into a 50-minute one, which sucks donkeys. Driving 50 minutes to do something fun is tolerable. Enduring a nearly-one-hour commute so that you can get stuck with a needle and told that your sodium levels might necessitate you taking salt pills (barf-o-rama) is less-than-ideal. However, with an 11:30 lab time, traffic wasn’t too bad and we got there closer to 30 minutes than 50. Here’s what we learned, and here’s the fantastic procedure I underwent.
